About Us

In an ever challenging and changing society, empowerment of women has always been a matter of great concern.  To equip women with troubled backgrounds and to meet the challenges of our society, Kasturba Sevikashram was started by Dr. T. S. Soundram as an essential unit of Gandhigram in 1947.  The “Ashram” has been a home for many troubled women– destitutes, divorcees, young widows and girls from low income households in remote villages. Today Sevikasram a is home to over 170 girls and women.

"When women get empowered, the country will get its true freedom" Mahatma Gandhi

Our Mission

Sevikashram's mission is to serve as a safe home for girls with troubled backgrounds and help them get a respectable position in the society. We take this mission forward by equipping them with education and practical skillsets.

Our Vision

Kasturba Sevikashram was established with the vision of enabling women with a troubled past to stand on their own feet through education and acquiring practical skillsets. Sevikashram is a stand to make the society believe that no woman should be left to feel helpless and orphaned.
